Throwback – In Pictures: Magnetic Fields 2015

India didn’t have an EDM scene despite rise in the number of EDM fans over the time. Personally I am not a fan of EDM but the idea of attending a festival focused around the party scene fascinated me a lot. Magnetic fields is the brainchild of the prince (may be king) of Alsisar who is credited of bringing the first ever EDM festival to India. The venue of this festival is in a remote village located 6 hours away from New Delhi.

Alsisar is a small village that is filled with typical Rajasthani architecture at every nook and corner. The lavish Alsisar palace hosts the festival and the accommodation is organized in the desert area adjoining the palace.

For me, Alisha Batth, Superfuzz, Palmistry and The F-16 were the gigs that won me but it was Ratatat that was the main highlight of the event. The duo with their amazing electrofunk style of music simply won everyone over. Honestly I never went to the DJ area or the after party because Alsisar had a lot more to explore than the music.

A tip, take t-shirts as well as warm clothes. It gets seriously cold between 11:00 PM and 4:00 AM. The stay accommodation is divided in two parts. The bedwins and the classic tents. My recommendation is to stay in the classic tent as it is cheaper and gives a better camping experience in the desert. You can spend the rest of your money in local food and artifacts.

How to reach

Alsisar is 5 hours away from Delhi and Jaipur. Buses from Delhi or Jaipur don’t go straight to Alsisar, so you need to change on from Jhunjhunu. Alsisar is half an hour away from Jhunjhunu.
