6 Amazing Eatouts in McLeodganj to go on a gluttonous trip

McLeodganj is a place you will fall in love with. The weather, the serenity and the food are a few things to die for. Other than peace seekers and spiritual wanderers this small quint hill station is also a favorite destination for foodies.

Often newcomers wander around with questions about what places one should visit and what they should try. In an attempt to shorten the list down I am listing couple of my favorite cafes that I never miss visiting whenever I am here.

Lahmos – Lahmos is a small café with a limited sitting arrangement on Bhagsu road. Surrounded by large café and bakeries this one is a miss if you don’t pay much attention. For those who know will tell you why Lahmos is worth visiting. They make the best Chocolate Croissants in the area. A cup of milk or tea along with their special chocolate mud cake makes the visiting this place worth it. The owners are a bunch of nice friendly Tibetans with whom you can indulge in a talk if you are interested in knowing more about the local culture and history.

Kungas – Right next to Lahmos, Kungas is located. One cannot miss Kungas because of the large signboard and crowd pouring in. While the chocolate mousse cake is a must try, their pastas and spaghettis are made to be relished upon. On a plus point, the view from their open space restaurant makes the waiting worth if service is little slow like on the weekends.

Lung Ta – For Japanese food lovers this is the place you should be. I was unwillingly taken here when I was here for the first time. Needless to say that Lung La appealed me surprisingly and took my taste buds on new levels. Try their steamed fish and sushi rolls you’ll keep coming back like I do.

German Bakery, Dharamkot – German Bakery is one of the few bakeries that one can visit on their way to Dharamkot area in search of good Israeli food and wood oven pizzas. One can sit around in the evening for a nice jam session with a bowl of salad with ice cream while music slowly take over the scene.

Moonpeak Café – Another small café where one can just sit looking at the views that mighty Dhauldhars bestows on any given day. Moonpeak café might be small but their sandwiches are worth relishing.

Café Illiterati – Listing at the last but not the least café Illiterati will always have a special place in my heart. I love this place for their tea, the occasional tunes of piano and specially the books that keep lying around. Located off Jogiwara road most tourists who visit McLeodganj don’t know about this place. The café has an open view of Dhauldhar mountains where you can sit and bask in the beauty of nature. The occasional rain makes this place even more beautiful. Icing on the cake are two dogs Fondue and Milo who visit regularly and will sleep on your lap if they like the way you cuddle them.
